Das Museo civico di storia naturale („städtisches Museum für Naturgeschichte“) in Mailand ist eines der bedeutendsten Naturkundemuseen Italiens. Das Museum wurde auf Initiative des Naturalisten und Sammlers Giuseppe De Cristoforis (1803–1837) gegründet. Dieser hatte seine Sammlung der Stadt Mailand vermacht unter der Bedingung, dafür ein Museum einzurichten, mit dessen Leitung sein Freund Giorgio Jan (1791–1866) zu betrauen sei. Auch dieser hat dem Museum seine naturkundliche Sammlung hinterlassen. Nach anfänglichen Unstimmigkeiten bezüglich der Größe und Lage des Museums wurde dieses 1838 gegründet und schließlich in den Jahren 1888 bis 1893 im neoromanischen Stil erbaut.
