Bedrijfsinfo bewerkenThe Torture Instruments Museum (formerly known as the Museum of Medieval Criminology and the Inquisition, and not to be confused with the nearby Museum of Torture and Witchcraft) is serendipitously installed in the medieval Torre del Diavolo (Devil's Tower). Its iron maidens, racks -- both the spiked and unspiked varieties -- chastity belts, various bone-crunching manacles, breast-rippers, and other medieval party favors are accompanied by engrossingly dispassionate descriptions of their uses and history. If nothing else, the kids might think it's cool (though the historical etchings and watercolors showing the torture instruments at work are definitely R-rated). Its popularity has spawned an epidemic of even worse imitations across Central Italy.
